From Jolinda Hackett, your Guide to Vegetarian Food

Have you ever tried...
Trying new foods is one of the best parts of being vegetarian and vegan. Make it a game - every time you go to the grocery store, pick up one thing you've never tried before. Here's a few suggestions:
  • Sunchokes? Sunchokes, also called Jerusalem artichokes, are an edible tuber that grows underground, much like a potato. (Pictured)
  • Brown rice syrup? Have you ever tried brown rice syrup? Learn more about this vegan and gluten-free liquid sugar substitute that can be used in baking.
  • Nama shoyu? In Japanese, nama means raw (or unpasteurized) and shoyu means soy sauce. Nama Shoyu is raw, unpasteurized soy sauce.
  • Halloumi cheese? A salty and unusual cheese that can be grilled, fried, or set on fire.

  • 100 foods to try
What's that? You have tried sunchokes, brown rice syrup and halloumi and you're bored with my totally un-titillating suggestions? Well! Have you tried all of these 100 vegetarian foods? Hint, no you have not, since item number one-hundred only exists in my dreams. Someday....someday...

    New recipes and resources
Here's what I've been adding, tweaking, reviewing, editing and eating the past few weeks. Take a look and get inspired by something new to try!
